Car Carrier
Q:

Are all carriers FHA approved?

A:

All "interstate" carriers are FHA approved. "Intrastate" carriers are licensed within their state.

Q:

Do all carriers maintain adequate insurance?

A:

Minimum standards are specified for any carrier to participate in the Network. If you have high-value loads, or have any other insurance concerns, you should contact the carrier directly.

Q:

How do I choose the right carrier to move my load?

A:

You can view all matches, and see how they compare in terms of transit performance, user feedback, out of route miles, and cost. You can also set up a "Preferences" screen that will automatically apply your preferences in choosing the best carrier, and list them in order by how closely they fit your selections.

Q:

What do I do if I have a negative experience with a carrier?

A:

You may give them an "unsatisfactory" rating for your load.

Q:

Does the Network support special handling requests, such as enclosed trailers or tie-down straps instead of chains?

A:

Yes.

Q:

Are carriers graded on how well they perform? How?

A:

Carriers are graded by Satisfaction % (grades by previous shippers using that carrier) and also by transit performance (% on time service). You can see their grades prior to selecting the best matching carrier.

Q:

Once I select a carrier to move a load, are there any automated communications?

A:

Yes. The carrier receives an automated email, with the ability to confirm the assignment directly via the email message. Also, if the carrier is using CargoTel's TMS, the assignment appears directly in the carrier's system.

Q:

Does CargoTel perform any "vetting" of Carriers?

A:

All carriers are contractually obligated to maintain operating authorities and insurance. A current insurance certificate is required to be accessible by Network shippers. If you have specific questions about either licensing/authority or insurance, you should contact the carrier directly

Q:

Are the Carriers primarily small or large, in terms of fleet size?

A:

Carriers consist of a very wide range in terms of size. Small carriers are often ideal for local and regional traffic, and large carriers are often more capable of longer hauls.

Q:

Can I ship Inoperable vehicles using the Network?

A:

Yes. You must indicate that when setting up your shipment.

Q:

Does the Network handle marine or other types of vehicles?

A:

Not at this time. However, if we receive a lot of requests for additional vehicle or commodity types, we will consider it for the future.

Q:

How do I pay carriers?

A:

Directly. Payments must be made in a timely fashion per the Network contract.

Q:

What are the payment terms to the carriers?

A:

Net 15 days. Paying early or on time will help insure that you have a high satisfaction rating. Remember, carriers also get to indicate whether or not they were satisfied with the shipper, on each load.
